Clearing Out The Cobwebs

February 16, 2016 by Margie Woods

It has been a long time since my Haunani has been out of her slip for a sail…almost 3 months to be exact! During that time there has been a flurry of work being done upgrading her systems and overhauling everything from electrical wiring to rigging. Thomas and Jerome have both been working so hard getting her ready for my season of racing with PSSA, and ultimately for my big adventure, the Single Handed Transpac in July. Yesterday I was so excited to head out for an afternoon sail with Jerome and Thomas to go over the operation of my new NKE autopilot as well as to make sure the other new electronics were all performing as they should. We had very little wind, but it came up enough for us to move along a little and accomplish what we needed to do. As much as it was a sail with an official purpose, I cherished the opportunity to have my dear friends and mentors out on my boat if even for a couple of hours.

Thanks to my sister Silvia for capturing these great images of our little sail!
