New Adventures Await
It has been a year and a half since I have posted anything here on my beloved sailing blog. That year and a half has been one of the most challenging epochs of my life. My health and wellness took a huge hit in a few ways over that time, and I was rendered unable to do much in my life, let alone sail my boat. I am extremely grateful to be feeling better and slowly getting back out on the water. I am so happy to be able to turn my attention once again to my sailing dreams.
Once of these dreams has been to keep Cassiopeia in the Bay Area for a while to seek new adventure and experience. Thanks to my boyfriend, that dream has become a reality.
We had a perfect weather window in which to make our voyage, and we took as much time as we could afford so that my recovering body and I could get some semblance of sleep along the way. We took 4 days to make the trip, stopping in Santa Barbara for a day and night (to avoid weather), and Morro Bay and Monterey for a couple of four-hour naps (never seeing the light of day). We rounded the dreaded Pt. Conception on a blissfully calm day, and the only wind of note that we experienced was for a few hours just after we rounded Pt. Sur.
The trip was physically exhausting for me, but equally rejuvenating for my spirit. Even though we never actually sailed, being on the water again brought me back into myself like nothing else possibly could have……the sheer majesty of the California coastline, the full moon lighting our way, the dramatic sunrises and sunsets, being surrounded by whales and other sea life…. All of it brought me to my knees in gratitude.
I want to thank Brendan for his company, support and expertise on this journey. It is not one I will soon forget!
And now…..we get to enjoy all that the San Francisco Bay has to offer!
